Things I noticed.

These are the same outfits everyone was in for the promo pictures.

The entire cast is filled with wee men, except Helo, because Gaeta is wee, and he is taller than Baltar (I've noticed this in other shots besides these) taller than Adama, and about as tall as Lee.

Agree on the being glad they didn't go through with the self loathing. It would have made him look weak (although I think I know why they want that) and the crowd probably wouldn't have reacted well to wee Gaeta willfully allowing himself to be thumped by a Cylon. Also... if he's suicidal, just show that. This is a lil convoluted.

I KNOW! Give him a damn scene alone and depressed by his locker or staring into space or ANYTHING ... having Sharon beat him up, WTF, Ron? As it is, he's spouting tech lines just like the robotron he used to be in S1.

Oy. /annoyed

Well.... I know *why* Ron wants to show some self loathing... I just don't know why he even considered having Gaeta go in the ring. Letting Sharon - who is much smaller - beat the snot out of him really just goes to the whole faglicious theory, you know? And don't get me started on how this would never have been sanctioned by a sane person. Or how Kara never would have won against a man. Sorry. As a woman who was actually in the military, I can tell you that Ron and his pals have a lot of fucked up teen fantasies about women.

Well, Sharon IS a Cylon, who can supposedly snap a man's neck without much effort so out of all the girls, she has the best chance of kicking ass.

But the fact that she is a Cylon and they still considered letting her into that ring? OMG, RON, WHAT WERE YOU SMOKING THAT DAY AND PLZ TOSS IT AWAY, 'KAY?

Or how Kara never would have won against a man

If Lee was supposedly punching full force, with those Popeye arms? Uh, yeah, she'd have been a spot on the ceiling. Supposedly Katee was horrified that she had to go against guys when no other girl had to ...

I know *why* Ron wants to show some self loathing.

Gee, how did he get other characters to do that? He gave EmoDoucheMan!Lee three whole crappy eps. All you'd need for Gaeta is a thirty second-one minute scene. Jeebuz.

Okay.

How to display Gaeta's angst and self-loathing in thirty seconds:

Gaeta looking in mirror in head. He looks pale or something. I'm sure AJ can handle Gaeta looking sad. Gaeta turns to leave. He trips on something, and lands on his knees. Flashback to him on his knees in the launch tube or wherever that was. The sound of door opening can be heard in background. There is the sound of snapping fingers, and we return to the action, with Gaeta still on his knees and Dee crouching in front of him, looking at him worriedly. She asks "Are you okay?" He says "Fine," and goes out. We follow him returning quickly to that place where they were boxing, and refocus on the action.

DONE!

That would definitely be better. I don't think the audience would handle watching Gaeta getting beaten up. He's had a tough break. Hitting him would be like striking a puppy. It would just look vicious.

You should have heard Tahmoh and Grace's reactions to that discovery. They were all "WTF?!?! Where did that come from?!?!" and a lot of cute giggling ensued on their part ( ... )

Another random comment, but it was quite clear in the podcast that Tahmoh and Grace idolize Olmos and Mary. I actually read that in the newspaper once. The entertainment reporter was invited to the set of BSG and he noted that Olmos/Mary were like the Daddy/Mommy to the cast. Because almost everyone was significantly younger than these two, everyone followed the older actors' examples. Those two usually got whatever they wanted from the rest of the cast. The writer theorized that was why Olmos got along so well with his cast. He didn't have to compete with anyone like he did on Miami Vice. I thought that was a really funny observation.

Ex.

Grace and Tahmoh: "Maybe we could do this and this and this..."
Olmos: "No, we should do it this way..."
Grace and Tahmoh: "Um, okay. Yeah, your idea is probably better." :)

Cap 000 seems to be saying "See, I'm not the only one who frakked your husband."

As much as I completely hated this episode, I like AJ in it. It was nice to see his character get screen time on New Caprica.
