Such an exciting update! I am delighted you are reading G.R.R. Martin: he's an experience, isn't he? I read them pretty much as they came out, and am eagerly waiting to see how HBO finishes off the series.

I can't imagine watching ten movies a month for most of the year. I'd have a hard time giving myself permission to do so.

The five books a month is another goal I've never met. I usually read about 40/year or three+ a month. A lot depends on the length and seriousness of my selections.

Keep up the good work! FanSee

Martin IS an experience, one that intimidated me for a very long time. When working at B&N, I would look at his books displayed on tables and wonder that I could ever read all those pages. I'm glad I've started, on Clash of Kings now, but they sure have slowed my reading down :) I'm hoping he has the last one published by the time I get there.

The movies are scatter-shot, some I bring in and some just happen to be on, the first mine and Aaron's selections, the second mainly Daiv's. Just last night we watched The Thin Man, the night before the (new) Birth of a Nation.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I read the first two Game of Thrones books, but then they sort of fell to the wayside. I think because I got so much into the series, I was put off by the differences. And now the series has passed by the books.

Get Out is on my hold list at the library. Did you enjoy it?

I don't much mind the differences, I find things I've liked better in each medium, the red comet for instance in the books. I like how it's the one real thing that connects all our main characters, each with their own interpretation of what it portends. And honestly, I don't miss all the sex that's not in the books either. You know, though, having watched the series has actually made reading the books easier because one of the difficulities can be keeping everyone straight but I could, from the very beginning, put a face with a name and that's been such a help :)

Yes, we enjoyed Get Out but it is a twisted little movie. Just sayin'.
