Stream of Consciousness, Epi 11.19

May 01, 2016 13:17

You guys. I need a minder. Seriously. I have been so swamped with work, I totally forgot our show came back this week. Thank goodness for my friend ThruTerrysEyes casually mentioning something about the baddie in this latest one or I might have missed it all together. I'm sorry about another late one. In any case, if any of you are still interested, here is ( Read more... )

This is an episode I like more and more upon reflection. That they can still come up with new creatures is amazing. The introduction of Jesse and Cesar, with their parallels and differences vis a vis the boys, was so perfect. (Damn, I wanna see a hunt in Mexico.) Enjoyed your review, as ever!

I agree!

And I'm behind a hunt in Mexico. That would be cool to see the boys in the desert. :)

I really enjoyed this episode, too--I agree that the placement is a bit odd, and the opening a bit tacked on, but these were my only gripes. Two things:

1) Again with the retirement thing. And also the idea of "settling down" with a fellow hunter. I think it was Sam who mentioned finding someone "in the life"--in "Baby." I wonder if they are prepping us for something like this. If they are, I suspect it will be Sam who gets the girl (so to speak). He seems more open to the idea, anyway.

2) About brother Matty's body--he would have been on the top of the pile, right? Since he was a victim of the most recent cycle? Anyway, I think it was the coin pouch that was the real clue. :-)

I enjoyed the read, as always--and look forward to the next!

I would agree with you; and Dean would live nearby and be an awesome Uncle.

I think you're right about Matty's body -- and I was actually really moved when Jesse found it. Terry's comment had me cracking up, though. :)

Thank you for reading!

I enjoyed this one. But I generally prefer MOTW over mytharc episodes -- especially since the only thing that's new and interesting to me this season is Dean's connection to Amara, which was left pretty much unexplored so far ( ... )

I though the Bisaan were a pretty creepy monster, I loved Jesse and Cesar (especially Cesar!), it was nice to see Dualla from BSG.

All good things! :)

I have to say I actually liked that -- to me, the lack of "unexpected and shocking" plot twists was actually a great plot twist in itself. :)

I can agree with that as well. :)

Thank you for reading! I can tell you that after 11.20, I'm even more inspired. I have 10,312 words done for "The Cave", so it's coming along. :)

Great review, as usual :) Loved how Jesse and Cesar were a couple, and must admit to show keeping me on the edge of my seat as to whether they would live or not.
I'm a stupid one for being picky with the ep's, but what got me was when Dean and Cesar were in the cave and each lost their knives (bungee cords, guys! lol ;p) and Dean just threw away the shovel after using it to kill the critter/possessed person-thing! Presumably he didn't know if there were any more creatures, and then he goes and just... throws away his only weapon o.O

Hahaha!! This is so true -- every time they do that, I'm like, "Wait until you are safe, you dummy!!"

If they'd only listen to us....

Thank you for reading! :)

How sad is it that I hardly remember this episode? It was on only two weeks ago. :( I usually remember and enjoy the arc episodes more. (the same is true of other shows that have a running theme as well) Reading your ramble brought it back for me, and I do agree that the writers are complacent, not striving for consistency with the repetitious lines while Dean is researching in the bunker.

All in all, not a bad episode. It had an interesting monster and we all agree that it was nice to have everyone alive at the end. Unusual for SN. But yes, filler to be sure and I'd go further to say, give the boys a little break as well. One of the things I enjoyed last season was that they had the last five episodes strictly focused on the mytharc, no fillers like this one.

Thanks for sharing your Ramble - even late - since I always enjoy reading your thoughts. I keep checking to see if you've posted, but I got derailed by needing a new computer. :( I see that the next Ramble is up already, so I'll be back soon! :)
