You're right Ron really rubbed me the wrong way, although I did love your epic tale... I guess I don't understand how you can bring him back into new stories, after killing him off?

Truth be told I really, really dislike his character and avoid reading anymore fics with his character present. I guess my question is why bring him back? Why not just create a new character?

It's confusing to me how we're just to suppose to ignore his core character, and death. Of course since I haven't read any of the new fics, maybe they all take place before his death? But I don't see how that could be...

Don't get me wrong I love, love, love your writing, but I hate, hate, hate Ron... I guess it's still to painful having read all the drama for before...

The thing is I'm all about the love between Brian and Justin, and I'd love to read more about their characters, minus Ron... Just a thought...

I bring him back for the same reason I use the canon QAF characters --
he's already established and he adds a dynamic that is missing in the
show, which is a strong character who can act as a counter to Brian.
Every story needs dramatic tension and one thing missing from most
fanfic is dramatic tension. Just having a "mean Mikey" or a psycho
Ethan almost never works because they aren't strong enough
characters. Dr. Dave in S1 was close, but once he was written off
they lost that edge.

Plus, I'm not kidding when I say that Ron has his own fans. That's
why I wrote the "Creekside Canyon" arc, for them. I posted a warning
with it because I know there are Ron haters who would want to avoid
it.

Just to reiterate -- I want ALL opinions about not just Ron,
but any original characters in any fandom, not just QAF,
although that's the fandom I know best.

For instance, "Randall"/Carol had a number of stories that heavily
used OCs, including ones that paired Brian romantically. I know
there are people in the fandom who were/are fans of Carol's work,
so that's another example of a popular series that featured OCs.

Why did you like or dislike those characters? How did they fit/not fit
into the story and with the canon characters? That's just a start.

In Queer Theories I didn't really like Ron. He was too controlling and jealous of any other man. Yet in Coup de Foudre I liked Ron.
Ron loved Brian, plain and simple. He took him away from his poisonous friends. Away from them he was able to build an honest loving relationship. So much so that he grieved losing Ron.
This is coming from a person who is a huge Brian and Justin fan.
You and Arwensong are the only ones that have written a good Brian and OMC stories.

I like Ron. He serves as a great source of tension yet is fully fleshed out enough to stand on his own as another character. And even when he is the undisputed heavy Ron has a tragic side to him. To me Ron seems almost as canon as Ted or Emmett.

A lot of readers tell me that. Even if Ron isn't their favorite character,
he seems almost canon to them because he's been around so long --
since 2002, in fact!
