Debbie was actually pretty rational this time around.

Oh dear Gus is in major meltdown maybe a quick alp up side of the head might have helped him! Then again probably not

Am irresistibly reminded of another young boy who stood in Deb's kitchen declaiming about running away to New York and selling his body to gross old homos.

I understand that in the shock of hearing what Gus was saying about the accident that his comments on Justin went unchallenged. Maybe even un-noticed. But I hope at some point she remembers them and has a little chat to Gus about his views.

Because, sadly, if he keeps making statements like "I couldn't stay in the house with him" and they go unchallenged, that becomes a case of "silence being seen as consent" or at least agreement. And every little instance like that reinforces Gus's views on Justin because they make it seem like other people share them, other people agree that he's bad for Brian.

And that isn't going to help at all in the coming weeks and months.

I don't understand how Gus saying he wants to stay with Debbie has anything to do with Justin's long ago threat to become a rent boy. But it's true that Deb failing to speak up for Justin is not helpful.

Sorry, Gael. Just posted my comment anonymously because I'd forgotten to log back in to LJ.

It was about the need for Deb to talk to Gus about his attitude to Justin.

Geez Gus certainly inherited the drama queen/ it's all my fault gene from Brian! Deb may not have registered the comment about " that Justin Taylor" but eventually she will have to set gus straight, and everyone else too. But first she needs to get Gus to chill alittle, and keep Lindsey away...because not only is there drama but a little crazy accompanying her when brian is involved. Holding out hope that Gus and Justin get to spend some time together.

Well, Gus isn't exactly wrong about the accident being his fault.

The "family" needs to soften Gus's attitude towards Justin because Justin is back for the long haul. Not starting to explain that Justin has been a part of Brian's life (and his) will only cause more hurt in the future. With this bunch, drama has been dangerously suppressed up to this time.

The truth is that Debbie and almost everyone else have no clue
that there's a problem between Gus and Justin. Even Brian was
only recently beginning to realize the extent of the trouble, which
is why he orchestrated the Dinner of Doom and the chat up on
Mount Washington. But the rest of them are clueless. Gus isn't
about to tell anyone anything at this point.
