I definitely think Justin is at a crossroads. He should take the college up on its offer and start his life on his own. Brian (and his shadow Ron) have been running the show for much too long.
...when I had to move out of my roommate-with-attack-dog apartment into a new place ASAP, it was v.v. cheap and I had to shower at the gym for a year before I found someplace better.
Well, I feel bad that Brian got cut off at the balls there before the big reveal (hahahahahhaah bad joke, sorry) and it was kinda a cheap hit to tell Brian "you can't save me" in that particular way, but Justin's completely justified in his reaction, and good for him for not just leaning back into codependency. The point was never Brian's fucking around, the point was that he always dictated to Justin how he was to feel about it, without caring about Justin's own feelings. What was Justin's choice - eat Brian's bullshit or get out completely. What kind of a choice is that?
So, yep, good for Justin.
As long as you don't fix this with a magical wedding, love it.
Oh, I can't believe Brian took off the necklace! That little heart meant so much to both of them. Justin was an idiot, expecting Brian to come back after what he said. He should have run after Brian and told him he didn't really believe that--he can't really believe that. And what is Brian going to do without that heart? There were times when that heart reminded him to take care of himself, and now that it's gone, now that he thinks he and Justin are really over, will he get the cancer taken care of? I'm so scared for Brian now.
These chapters are really painful but I hve to read them! Please, I know that your are the author and I will repsect any choice you will make, because I really love the way you write, but I would really like at least an hopeful ending for our boys.
That's so funny that you said that coz' I feel the same way! I see a new chapter and I get this feeling of happy dread! I don't want to read about the pain but I HAVE to read it, you, know? Our author is is brilliant that way! Who else can compel her audience to read a story they don't want to read? :-D
All eyes are right on you, my sweetness! You are the one that has embedded this story deep into our veins; it runs through us and all around us and we love you for it! Such a modest little genius you are! :-D

Especially when there's so much unfinished business.
