Liked this chapter a lot, making the boys realize that the world isn't safe. The last sentence from Brian was beautiful...just like those golden horses. =)
Can't wait for the San Francisco and New Orleans adventures! =)
You had me feeling just like Justin was at the end-anxious. I was fearing the bikers would turn on Brian and Justin. But does go to show you how so many gays feel about the ability to even touch their partner. I'm just now really realizing how awful that must be...not to be able to ever touch your partner in public (depending on where you live)and I understand now more than anything why my son will never ever come home to NC
And this Stream takes place in 1979. Things were so different back then. They're right about there only being a few places where they might be accepted, but almost nowhere they could be really safe -- if such places exist even now, with guys being bashed in West Hollywood and at Pride Parades!
I really liked the powerful statements in this chapter. The imagery, although not necessarily pleasant, was great and quite intense. I hope B/J decide to take a detour to a gay-friendly location like the French Quarter of New Orleans. That would be a lovely adventure for them.
