Brian pulled Justin closer to him. He could smell something sweet on his breath. One of Darren's rich desserts, most likely. "Be careful, Justin. I'm not kidding. This evening shift you're working now, I don't know about it...."
I love seeing a protective Brian! It looks good on him ;)
"I park in the Watermark lot and I come right home after my shift's over. What could happen to me?"
lol, where I work they make us park as far away as humanly possible, actually we have to park in a different parking lot from the restuarant. But, at the end of the night the make damn sure that at least two people are walking out, never just one person, especially a woman.
This may be "The Angel Stream" but it's taking place in Stockwell's Pittsburgh. There was no Justin to urge Brian to fight against him, so he won the election.
That was such a touching chapter. Brian's concern for Justin and his love for him are expressed in a very moving way that truly touched my heart.
The atmosphere of the sirens all around and for a variety of reasons and Brian's concern about Justin's dinner shift hours leant a tense sense of foreshadowing.

Maybe it's lines like these:
"What could happen to me?"
"Nothing." Brian stared up at the sky. The moon was
almost full. "Nothing could happen."
And Justin was fearless. Fucking fearless.
Brian wished that he could say the same for himself.

Oh, no, not in the Angel Stream!
I really liked the visual paragraph about all the sirens. It gave a real sinister feel to everything (which, of course, is happening with Stockwell).
