There needs to be something done with spam comments on fics. I don't know if you got my PM or not, but I was spammed on an old fic. I think all fics should be member locked from now on and all old fics need to be locked and if anyone wants to join, there should be a stricker joining policy. Now if you want to keep mod posts public, so people can see what we are all about before joining, that's okay, but yeah...all fics should just be locked to hopefully prevent this from happening again. Just a thought.

It's really your own choice to friends/members lock it. Spam is LJ's problem. I don't think very many people (that arent members yet, in theory) would join this community if there were no public fics at all. I think that having to join a comm to read anything is quite a deterrent to potential members. So I don't think this should be an actual mandate.

Unfortunately, this is an LJ wide problem. I get spam comments on my personal journal everyday. All you can really do is report them and delete them.

And we can't really lock all the posts to members only. There would be nothing for potential members to look at and get them interested. We'll try switching over to the "registered users only" setting on comments and see if that helps. But of course that's not going to stop the spammers with dummy journals from commenting. :(

On the topic of another comm (that I know paraph is the mod of) gacktxyou, I think you should switch the options around. Membership should be moderated (not closed) and posting access should be closed (or kept moderated). I'd really like to join and read some fics that aren't posted here (or are linked from here and come up "you don't have access to this entry"). I could also start tagging things like they're tagged here if you'd let me.

Honestly I ended up putting that community on ice. The original Mod dropped it on me without telling me after I'd already started another community for gacktxyou fanfiction because the old had become unusable. If there's interest, it could certainly be started back up again.
