Writing Project Day 43 (or Month 2 Day 12)

Sep 12, 2009 23:02

I wrote most of this while the Admiral gave the kids a bath. It started as a flashback to promote another scene, but became its own scene. Some good lines by Sirius. I'm starting to enjoy writing scenes that pop into my head without prompt words so I figure that as long as I'm already inspired, I don't need to use the words any more. So...no ( Read more... )

LOL at the passionate Irene/Sirius. Nice snippet, and I loved this line:-
“It’s a whole new thing to be a Black thanks to you Sirius.”

It's interesting how you have Sirius as being someone who genuinely enjoys people and is generous towards an extended family. He's obviously happy to have Regulus and anyone else he considers 'real family' around him. (Though Regulus should have pointed out that Sirius would not have wanted to live with James and Lily!)

Well, dogs are really social animals, after all.

Good point about James and Lily -- though I think Sirius may have overstayed his welcome as a joke once or twice. They do love to give each other a hard time.

*giggles*

I love Sirius being magnanimous! (gee that was a big word, but I don't think I spelled it correctly)

The Word spellchecker says you're right.

Oh, yes! I love this. This is what I wanted for Sirius. Not that dratted veil. This, turning the name Black from darkness to light, finding love, having a brother he has a good relationship with. Keep it up, will you? :-)

LOL - not the little brother's bed. Poor guy - he's needs a girlfriend. Fluff alert! Now I want more fluff. Who is she? I *know* you have some sort of theory.

Poor Regulus is having meaningless one night stands with Witch Weekly models and Quidditch groupies because he is pining away for Beatrice Bennett and has been since they were lined up together at sorting (Bennett, Black a happy accident of fate for me). Of course, at school, she had eyes only for Remus, but since she's observed Regulus do things like drink the potion in place of Kreacher (after which she had to heal him), and continue to go to Death Eater gatherings as a spy (which uncovered Peter's betrayal) -- Beatrice has come to admire Regulus -- but he doesn't realize it because all they do is argue about Slytherin vs. Gryffindor and Quidditch teams. Plus, Regulus thinks she's still waiting for Remus to get a clue and ask her out again.

Last year I speculated that it took until Remus proposed to Tonks for Regulus to make his move on Beatrice...that may be as long as it took for Michael and Melinda to get together...I may not be able to wait that long.

I like the outline.

Clearly, Regulus needs some Big Brotherly advice about making a move, and about conversing with your GF on things that you won't argue about!! (Even if you do eventually get to make up in interesting ways ...) Not that Regulus would immediately take advice of course, especially if Sirius gave it while teasing him - but maybe we will eventually see something of a 'serious' Sirius, dealing with both Remus and Regulus. Hopefully Regulus will see the light, as it were, sooner than our dear obtuse and stubborn werewolf ...

LOL - I *knew* you would have a plan! And I like this one.

I know - these long drawn out affairs are a killer to write since we want our characters to be happy. But the end is all the sweeter for it.

I realize that you really enjoyed a few of Sirius's lines in this snippet, but I have to say, Regulus captures my attention here, too--and you've really built his character quite nicely with some great asides and lines. I love their brotherly dynamic--it's really just perfect. :-)

Thanks -- believe me, I enjoyed writing Regulus's part too.
