That Darned Meme

Jun 30, 2008 23:26

Ok, grandma_kate (and also ladywhizbee!) tagged me. So I'm doing it, but please ignore the tags at the end unless you really have an opinion (or, since you're allowed, just write 20 new questions on something that does interest you).

The rules of the meme...A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs & replace any question that they dislike ( Read more... )

I'm surprised at how much fun it is to read about people on my flist. And I love that you think you have become a better cook since I am always giving my daughter-in-law recipes that you post. She raves about your chocolate crock pot pudding cake.

I blushed a bit at your comments about me but then remembered that the nuns always said to say, 'Thank you' when you were complimented, all the while while reminding us that we should be thankful for our good genes, education, and experiences.

I don't take compliments well either. The Admiral is constantly reminding me that I need to stop demuring and just say, 'Thank you.' (He was taught by nuns too).

It's all those vegetarian recipes I posted for you, obviously! LOL! I know what you mean. There are a few people on my friends' list who are obviously excellent cooks and I do like it when they give advice on how to get the results.

It's funny how we all quite like being tagged but are very reticent about actually tagging other people.

It is! Thanks to you and harriet_wimsey I now keep a bag of dried lentils in the pantry at all times. And I never would have branched out into Turkish cuisine if not for rhetoretician's Imam Bayledi recipe. The more I cook, the more confident I become with trying new things (like butterflying and stuffing a chicken breast -- don't gross out!) and substituting ingredients.

I guess none of us likes 'putting upon' others.

*grins* at being tagged. 'Hearing and obedience, my Lady' she said. (I'm feeling rather silly after reading all the fun posts this morning, can you tell? ;) lol)

I quite get you on Silk/Kheldar; he always made me laugh too, and he didn't take himself too seriously!

Memes may be silly but it helps with the 'getting-to-know-you'.

I'm glad somebody on my flist knows who Kheldar is (Baffy used to, but she's been out of circulation for quite a while). I really loved him -- and I wasn't quite sure how I felt about Velvet in the second series (jealous much?)...but in the end I liked her ok, and fluff for Silk was much better than having him die a bachelor.

Yes, these sorts of memes do help us learn more about our friends.

Oh yes, fluff was a better end than a long fall off the City of Endless Night. :) I think it was there that Naradas met his end, 'trying to learn to fly', as Silk put it. So dry. :D

I think I must have read everything Eddings wrote.

That was one of my favorite confrontations in the series, because Silk was so pissed at himself for writing 'Brill' off as a stupid hired thug and he got to make amends and prove that he hadn't gone soft.

I haven't read any Eddings since Polgara the Sorceress -- maybe I should look him up again.

So, I’m unhappy because I’m unhappy. I've just been a lot more short tempered and lethargic lately and it's hard to snap out of.

Boy to I get this one! Do you miss your writing and posting every day? Sometimes I resent things and don't even realize what it is I'm resenting/missing. It's okay to be angry because that shows where the limits are (took me 40 years to figure it out) but first you have to know what it is that's *really* bugging you.

Yes, even though it often meant staying up later than I ought to, I really enjoyed the result of forcing myself to write every day. I don't know why I can't get into the same sort of rhythm for an actual full-on story...of course, school ended shortly after I finished that streak of writing in May -- and Summer Camp hasn't provided the oodles of free time I anticipated...

I guess I need a new resolution this month.

Thanks for tagging me! I'll get to it shortly. I was going to post a few nights ago with pics of my garden, but I seem to have misplaced the digi cam with memory card.

"Are you sure you didn't leave it by some plant, under the sprinklers?" asked the Boy Wonder.

Well, not entirely... but that just proves that its possible for someone to know you too well.

Enjoyed reading your answers. And I really like the name Amy!

Oh, I'm so glad you have the time to do it...I can't wait to read about your dream wedding on a mountain top with Boy Wonder and the goats!

Amy has always felt so ordinary to me... I'm glad I had two daughters, because I was able to give them my two favorite girl names (that I wished for and gave characters in my girlhood writing) -- which they will probably grow up hating.

It has a really nice etymology, of which you are probably aware-- from Old French meaning 'beloved'. And it often earns the nickname Mimi, during childhood at least, which is what we always called my favorite grandmother, instead of the usual 'Meme'. So I do think it's really nice...
