I opened the Microtonal Melodies and the Sonatas for Prepared Piano pages in separate windows and clicked preview for both at the same time, and combined, they're pretty much just what I think the Vong theme should sound like.
Oy, Cage. Revolutionary he might be, but his music makes my skin crawl. :P
I remember seeing that album, but since it wasn't Williams' music and was for a book I never liked, I never bothered to listen to it. If they'd ever done soundtracks for the books I liked, though, I'd definitely give them a try.
I think that author, Perry, got a lot better with time and in collaboration with Reaves. SoE had a few intriguing details but was rather shaky, I think.
Hey, awesome! I didn't think of YouTube! Not having to buy the album makes a world of difference in my willingness to listen to it. :P Thanks!
I might give SoE another try one of these days; I read it so long ago that I might feel differently about it now. Heard good things about the MedStar books, though I never read them, and liked the first half of Death Star. But with DS, life got busy, I paused halfway through the reading, and never did get back to it. I suppose I should finish that someday, too. :P
