The Amazing Spider-Man

Okay, you guys know I fangirl Spidey to the point where it's a problem. XD I was expecting to enjoy this film, but not as much as I did. It really was amazing. However, it did have it's flaws. Not major ones, but more like "it's a shame" flaws that held the film back from being perfect. I was, however, like this by the end of the film:

Haha we both saw it today.

I agree with you on most these points.

Denis Leary surprised me incredibly in this role. I know his background is actually acting (he got into the field as a stand up by pure circumstance) but he created a very layered character and while Uncle Ben's death teared me up, I got a little teary when Captain Stacy showed up at the end.

Haha, Denis Leary is actually from Boston. And I kept on thinking, "He's using Boston hostility, not New York hostility." I'm a bad person. XD I actually got his book for Christmas one year called "Why We Suck". It's pretty funny (although he steps over the line a few times)

Also, I think you're right about the first ones. They're innocent. This one is more modern.

I was really happy when he was cast, but sad cos I knew he was gonna die. I just didn't think it'd be so soon! When he came at the end, I was like noooo! He wasn't in it a lot, but he did a lot with what he was given. Same for Uncle Ben and Aunt May actually! Haha, that's not bad, I'm the same way with actors from inner London. Especially with Idris Elba and Tom Hardy. They're always carrying a little bit of London swagger when they walk and talk.

Speaking of accents, I wanted to ask you! Chris Evans (Captain America) is from Boston or from the suburbs near Boston, can you hear his accent come out sometimes? Cos I always try and see if I can spot it but I'm too distracted by the pretty to notice. XD

The director was really good at giving the film the right feel, I just hope they get a better script next time. But keep the snark, that was awesome. They modelled a lot after the ultimate Spider-Man universe, which is good cos that comic is brilliant.

I had to recall the Avengers and I remember him sounding very normal? I looked him up, he is from a town West of Boston. Mid-state tends to lose the Bostonian quality. Looking at a quick clip of Captain America on youtube, I say he does have some habits of someone who is New England.

However, I looked up this interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-O_F84JcSI He speaks very New England there. He rarely opens his mouth when he talks, and opens it to the side. Some of his words go almost nasally and the "Com'on" is very New England.

Haha, if you ever see Tower Heist, Casey Affleck has a painful Boston Accent which I don't think he can hide like Chris Evans does. And he's in NEW YORK.

I thought this Uncle Ben was better than the old one.

And I expect great things from the sequal. I just realized the director did 500 Days of Summer which was a brilliant movie.

Ah, okay! I thought I wasn't listening properly during The Avengers/Captain America cos I could only hear the standard movie accent from him. I really wanna watch Tower Heist, hopefully I'll get around to it soon! Our equivalent to Netflix is annoying when it comes to some films. They have been very good in sending me Bollywood films though!

Yeah, the relationship between him and Peter felt a lot more real here. But I think that, again, it's because they modelled it on Ultimate Spidey instead of normal Spidey. In the old film he was more like his moral compass than father figure, if that makes sense. The only problem for me for any future films is that they already had the perfect JJ Jameson, Norman Osborne and Doc Ock, so seeing someone else play them is going to be hard! But then again, the casting for this was so good. As long as the studio lets the filmakers do their work, it should be okay.

That was a great film, I really enjoyed it. It sat with me a lot better than most romance movies.
