Okay, it's official. I have to see this movie, even though it will suck.

I absolutely loathe Anne Hathaway. Meryl Streep is too old for this role. The book was good and I didn't want to see it ruined.

But briefly take a look at the cast list below the two leads. Stanley Tucci is amazing in supporting roles, though I've never seen him do gay. And ( Read more... )

Why do you hate Anne Hathaway?

Jenna read the book; I haven't, but I want to. I am going to see the movie.

She did have some pretty sucky roles at the beginning of her career.

I'm going to read it in high school. I have to read A Painted House by August 15 for school, and I dunno if it's a piece of crap or what, so I have to start it now for fear that it might take me the whole summer.

Did you see Brokeback Mountain?

I think Anne Hathaway is a case of a very talented young actress who has mostly done really lame movies. She was great in that, and her character was supposed to be a bitch, so it was kind of a different role than she normally takes.

The previews for Prada look fantastic, actually. They just show one scene but it is completely hilarious. And Meryl Streep looks like she's fabulous in it. How old is the character supposed to be? I haven't read the book so I don't know.

I saw Brokeback Mountain; I found it by far her least offensive role. (I really liked that movie, actually- much more than my friends did.)

I'm sure Meryl Streep will be fabulous, because that's what she is. In the book, the character was in her late thirties and had twin six-year-old daughters who were evil. They will obviously not be in the movie.

Yeah, I think the Anne Hathaway problem is not so much with her as the fact that she's been cast in a lot of Mary-Suey roles. So I still have faith she'll be cool in that. When she gets good roles, she's good in them.

I could have, would have SWORN that her boyfriend's name was adam, or if not adam at least not nate. But the dude who oplays christian, totally WAY too old and not the least bit appealing and tempting the way the Hot Smart write dudes should be in order to tempt Anne Hathaway away from Adrian Grenier, which makes me very very sad. I want to know exactly how they will make it into a movie because it is filled with flashbacks and hard to make a movie out of. Dying to see it

You read it much more recently than I did... I'll take your word for it that that was not his name. But it appears to be his name in the movie.
