If I've developed a sudden urge to begin watching shows I've never watched, does this mean that I am growing as a person or that I have mental instabilities that are affecting my leisure time?
Subliminal Mind Control Wow. After talking with Katie Saturday night about random anime fandoms, I think telelvision really does eat your brain. On Saturday, for three hours I just watched Toonami. I started talking about a show I used to love and I haven't even watched in four years. And then I started complaining about how Cartoon Network mangled it. Then I started a fandom debate. That's right. Me. I think shows must eat your brain, and then plant their larvae into your skull. Maybe now was just the first emergence. And then while taking lecture notes in college, I may suddenly start yelling, "Darn it!!! I want to watch (random anime show whose larvae is in my brain) NOW!!!" And then I might start talking about the characters or have this sudden obsession with Japanese until the larvae figure out what to do and pop out of my skull and infect the rest of the class. Enjoy that image.
But what about meeeee? Am I slowly dying of some brian wasting disease? Or is this just my psychological reaction to the scores on last week's math test?
We all seem to have our fair share of mental instabilities. And given the crop of new shows this season, i think the networks are banking on random urges to get viewers to watch some of them.
