[Now closed] Grey's Anatomy comment fic-a-thon!

Mar 01, 2011 21:02

The first ga_fanfic comment fic-a-thon is now closed. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this a giant success. We had a really fantastic response to this, and we may hold more in the future (hiatus survival, anyone?).

Recap post and master list of fics can be found here.

Alex/Mark/Addison
I've got another confession my friend, I'm no fool.
I'm getting tired of starting again, somewhere new...

Directions from an Air Force Colonel, sitting on the curb in Colorado Springs, playing guitar for the benefit of the birds and squirrels, cost them three cans of soup and a small bottle of ibuprofen. For confirmation that it is Addison, they throw in a fifth of vodka for free and tell him to not mix it with the ibuprofen but when added to the tomato soup, you can almost forget that you’re eating it straight from the can ( ... )

Later that night, they watch from the sidelines as she tends to the day’s list of people who need a doctor. One splinter in a big toe, two arms and one forehead needing stitches, a couple stomachs needing antibiotics, and a pregnancy to check up on. People offer to pay her but she refuses, saying she gets enough from the bar and you shouldn’t have to worry about paying a doctor when things are as hard as they are. She smiles when a father brings his little girl to her and after she checks the incision site and changes the dressing, the girl gives Addison the teddy bear in her arms. Addison grins even wider and sets the bear on the shelf, a rescue from the side of the road back in Nevada that she now gives to scared kids ( ... )

Ignore this comment. It exists only to let me know that I've already linked your story in the forthcoming ficathon recap post. :)

Not gonna lie, when I saw that you'd answered this and that it had taken you three full comments to do so my absolute first thought was "zombies"!

The apocalypse was kinda implied!

Having said that, I loved this! As we've previously discussed, I share your affinity for fics of this nature and the idea of Mark and Alex road tripping together, coupled with their search for Addison, is brilliant.

It's most definitely not what I was expecting when I posted the prompt, but I'm absolutely glad that this is the result.

There are not enough post-apocalyptic GA fics out there if you ask me!

ZOMBIES. I will admit to wanting to write an apocalypse fic for this and surfing comments for a prompt that I could maybe squint and make it work. Yours won.

Thanks! I'm really glad you liked this!

There are not enough post-apocalyptic GA fics out there if you ask me! And I think you and I have written all of them. We should form a club.

My only question is: why stop there?

Mostly because I needed to shower so that my hair could dry before I go to bed, thus minimizing the amount of wrangling I have to do with a flat iron in the morning. :)

That is understandable. I'm always a firm supporter of your apocalyptic fics, I'm just not very good at writing them. Hell, I'm hardly any good at writing anymore. haha. Point it, maybe one day I'll give it a shot, but I might be half way to dead myself.

Can I just do a super lame facebook-style "Like"? My brain is dead after 13 hours of work.

But I also support the post-apocalyptic fic! Fascinating for reasons I can't really articulate.

Also years later, I still kind of love your writing.

Haha, that's okay!

There are a couple of other apocalypse fics of mine floating around; I have no idea if you've read either of them: Quite Battered Voices (Derek/Addison), and Five Minutes Past Midnight (Mark/Addison + Derek). I find it fascinating too and spent most of last year writing apocafic and it decided to creep back into my repetoire this year.

Thank you!

Ohhh I've read them. Five Minutes Past Midnight was amazing.

It would be pretty difficult to find a Grey's fic that I have not at least skimmed to see if I was interested. I don't get on lj much these days though. More of a twitter girl. (Though there's not much fic on twitter.)
