Exercise geekery

I upped the intensity of my workout again this morning, and guess what? I didn't die! I ran four 0.5 mile intervals, with the first 0.25 at 5.3mph, and the second at 6mph, as well as reducing my walking intervals from 0.25 mile to 0.15-0.2. Oh, and since I started this, all my runs have been on a 0.5% incline. It's not much, but it's better ( Read more... )

Wow, you lost a lot of weight! Congratulations. Keep up the good work. :) I still keep "skinny jeans" from when I was 17 for weight loss moments like that.

Intervals are pretty much the only thing that's ever worked for me. I took up cycling thinking I'd work my way up to centuries and ended up doing hour-long interval sprints instead.

Also, Bruce Lee was a huge fan of running intervals, and who could argue with his fitness? He basically did sprint-a-minute, walk-a-minute until collapse.

An hour-long interval sounds killer, especially since it implies there will be more than one!

I meant an hour of intervals, not an hour between each one. I'm usually doing 6 min sprint, 6 minute recovery.

I started by doing the last minute of every interval at 6mph, and worked my way up. It gets easier ;)
