So the experimental cork flooring we put in our Kitchen will be 5 years old in October, and it still looks great. We were hoping it would last at least 5 years because that's when it would begin to "pay for itself" when compared to vinyl/linoleum. It is much better looking and much softer on the feet when standing and cooking.
Glasses still break when dropped from counter height, but none of the plates do because the cork is very forgiving. It has held up to frequent spills, dropping of firewood, pots, plates, glasses; two dishwasher overflows (where the entire kitchen was covered with a sheet of water) and frequent aquarium water jug spills just fine. I guess I am saying I love cork in a kitchen.
It dents when people walk on it with spike heels, but the dents pop back up to flat in a few hours.
I'm having a hard time finding a cork pattern/color that doesn't totally conflict with the hardwood in the hall...I didn't get home till after dark, so I don't know how the current two pieces will compare. Right now it seems like that will be the easiest to install as well.
