Midpoint coming early this week

Got out of here fairly earlyish last night, having gotten a couple of policies printed during my time at the front desk so I could finally get this account off my desk that I'd been doing off-and-on work on for the last couple of weeks that kept getting interrupted by higher-priority data entry. So that was nice ( Read more... )

Well, as for new glasses I would not suggest Target optical. Even with the vision plan I still ended up paying over $150 for this new pair I got. I recall Eyemasters was running some $89 frame deal (of course it's the lenses that kill you) I'm thinking of checking that out once I can scrounge up some extra cash.

Been buying from Pearle for years and years, largely because of family loyalty based on the repair policy. (There was one year where my sister broke her glasses so many times Mom felt guilty bringing them back in for fixing.) They've done some free repairs on mine outside the one-year warranty period, too. So, going there once I've got a few hundred to drop on it.

Mom's a big fan of prescription sunglasses. I got one pair in middle school and hardly ever used them and found it to be a big pain in the ass carrying them around with me and swapping them out -- and then before too long they were out of prescription anyway and just caused a headache. Waste of money for me -- though Mom gets full value out of hers ( ... )

My sister was very athletic in junior high and high school (which had a lot to do with how her glasses got broken so frequently) and had so light a prescription at the time that she could get away with just running around without her glasses. I think for a while there she did have contacts, while she had her own job and could afford them, but nowadays she just wears glasses. (Don't know/can't recall if she still does the glasses-less thing on special occasions.)

I don't think I've got an astigmatism, but for a while there my eyes were getting worse at such a pace that there was some talk of getting me some hard contacts just to kind of keep my eyes the same shape. They seem to have largely hit equilibrium, though, since my last few pairs of glasses have all been the same prescription or only minor changes, and I was going in there to replace them because they were physically worn out.
