This is for those of
you who like knitting and/or costuming projects. The rest of y'all can just move along to the next entry on your friends' page...
Here's what I've got so far:
This is the main panel. I've done the front, bottom, and back, and now I'm onto the beginning rows of the flap that it'll close with.
Here it is folded over with the strap/sides strip in place to show where everything goes.
This is me trying to show off how great the cable-knit pattern of the strap looks. The image quality is abysmal -- the shots on the
pattern show the strap much better. I didn't adapt that segment of the pattern too much, as compared to the main body of the bag...
And this is to get a better, less-washed-out view of the backside of the bag. With the flap that'll go over it, the front of the bag will remain mostly hidden, which is good since it was largely a practice region. It's also why I didn't bother putting any of the star beads on the front side -- just on the back and then on the top flap when I get that far.
This is me shamelessly stealing a trick I saw someone using at MW*C -- taking a snippet of pantyhose the right size to go around the foot and stitching doll hair to it. Actually, this is the practice bit, where I snipped a segment from the top of the kneehigh stockings I bought and tested my ability to hem the edge reasonably and affix fur. I need to work out a few bugs on the fur -- perhaps tying knots around each curl, or "glueing" it with a drop of clear nail polish or hot glue to help it stay in place. The clear nail polish was already used to pre-treat the line I was going to cut along, since Mom noted that pantyhose has a tendency to run. I suspect I'll also paint the inside of the finished footie under the stitched regions of fur to hopefully reinforce it and prevent running. Or maybe not, since it might wind up annoyingly rough against my foot. This is what the practice footie is for -- to figure out how best to do it. (Oh, and the neon green nailpolish is going to go before the con.)
And those were the two items off my "to do" list that I really wanted to finish or at least work on this weekend, so I'm not displeased. And now to bed...
