Kurt Vonnegut, Counterculture’s Novelist, Dies

In seventh grade, Ms. Simpson, my English teacher at the time, gave me her dog-eared copy of Slaughterhouse-five. It had notes scribbled all over it, and I absorbed every word of the novel.
