so why won't my music download quickly?

kim and i have legit internet now, and i set up the wireless router today. so in theory, bitorrent should go faster, right? so why the eff are things still downloading at 1k/sec and 2 k/sec and sometimes 10k/sec?? WHY NOT SUPER DUPER FAST? i'm annoyed. can someone please suggest something? it says "online, maybe firewalled" which i assume it ( Read more... )

because of how bitorrent works, it goes slow if there's fewer people you're downloading it from. So that's why it's going slow; there's not that many people online with the files you're downloading. That's why when you search for the file, you need to make sure that the numbers are high!

after much irritated investigating, i think it's because of a firewall. i read the FAQ page and they said that in order to have the desired high speed, i need to be uploading as well as downloading. and i looked at my thingie and my bitorrent upload rate is at 0. sooooo after much more annoyance in trying to fix the firewall thing on my computer, i've come to the realization that it's the router too. by "come to the realization" i mean "i called matt and asked wtf is up". so he's gonna come work his magic and fix it for me. thank god i have equally nerdy friends to help me with my nerd needs!
