Debunking the DaVinci Code

ok, so I'm behind yet again.  I'll finish telling everyone about film camp this week some time, though.  When I can fit it in between babysitting my sister's neopet (she's on her first week long over night camp), and doing my IB summer reading. :P.

Anyway, last night, I watched this program with my dad where this guy was trying to follow the clues ( Read more... )

There is a page in the front of the book telling which are the absolutely true facts. Any other "facts" about the Holy Grail, I assumed, were incorrect.

the problem is that even the stuff he says in the front are absolutely true facts aren't absolutely true. Those are wrong as well. He writes, and I quote, "The Priory of Sion-a European secret society founded in 1099-is a real organization." But as I've said in my debunking, it was actually the fabrication of a crazy guy, a bored aristocrat, and a drunk actor who have lived within our parents' life times, and probably our own.

I'm not going to read this post in full as of yet, since I want to be able to read The DaVinci Code first. Even my dad was trying to figure out the puzzles. ^_^ But it's important to keep fact separated from fiction and speculation. Of course, to me religion is about 70% speculation already, but that's just my two bits.

It would probably be good to read it first, but since I'm not going to be reading it for a while, I want to have it dead set in my mind that it's wrong, since I've seen Christians start to doubt because of this book, and I don't want to go there. I agree, there is a lot of speculation and interpretation in religion. That's why there are so many different divisions. But I don't know if it's quite THAT much.
