youre lucky, coz just this very day i compiled a 'top three favourite words' list. here they are:

3) abominable
2) superfluous
1) verisimilitude

I'd have to think on this for a great deal of time to come up with a definite "favorite," but one that always comes to mind is pulchritude, which means beauty, and I love it simply because of the juxtaposition of its meaning with its linguistic sound qualities. It doesn't describe nearly what I thought it might describe when I first heard it.
