I was hunting through my old posts for something, but didn't manage to find it. However, I was curious... how many people on my friends list have actually gone back and read my older posts? How many people when they wind up being friends with someone new go and read their new friend's old posts?

Just kind of curious, so please respond.

Sometimes I'll go back and look for entries around certain times, but if people have a lot of entries and don't title and tag them, it can be hard to find something specific. It's hard enough to find something in one's own LJ, never mind someone else's.

There was a point that I would give fun titles just to avoid haivng to decide on an actual topic for the post. Similar issues with tags too, but I know what you mean. I think I could have found the post I was looking for if I just tagged stuff to begin with.

I don't go through my own old posts, let alone the old posts of others.

I would tend to think people would sooner go through old posts of others more often then old posts of their own. I tend to go through the old posts of a journal when I first come across it. Depending on how old a person's journal is, you can almost see a progression sometimes with what they like to post.

As for my journal, I try not to repeat topics too much, but it is interesting to think that people don't actually read old thoughts... which means all thoughts are new for those people. Well, assuming that they haven't been reading your journal since the beginning in the first place.

I used to go back, at first, when most people's journals were relatively new. I believe I went back to read all of your posts, for example. Now I never do, though, unless I know they just started it. Although, I can envision myself reading through some people's old posts, but not others. Some people write so often that I only skim even the new posts. ;)

I sometimes do go back through my own posts. LJ is sort of an art to me. I rarely talk about things I'd talk about in regular conversation with people - or, I talk about those things, but in a different way, usually more staged/poetic. So going back to my old posts is like looking through old pieces of creative writing I did.
