you know a series is good when it has red-eyed albino boys who are probably/hopefully/shipabbly gay!!!
also violence is always good. i was getting tired of these recent shows i tried to watch (like dangan rompa or whatever it's called) that try to act violent the do cop-outs like neon blood and not showing actual death and impact... i guess i can rewatch baccano if i really am desperate for that though. it's not like i crave violence, but i get annoyed when it seems like they're trying to be dark and then skip out on stuff like that.
i can't watch stuff on hulu since that's only open for people in america, but i can find it elsewhere i'm sure. right now we're rewatching No. 6 but i'll start watching this series after we finish that!
have you seen Fafner? in the beginning it is a bit dull, but by the time you get to the end, and when you watch the movie, you'll really be crying out "nooo just let them be togetherrrr god dammit he deserves himmmm they love each other so much c'monnnn". there's going to be another movie a whole '

Dangan Ronpa's violence is actually because of a Japanese law about video game censorship--I'm not sure of the exact context, but the only way you can have that much blood is if it doesn't look like blood. So. Pink. The anime kept that because it's been majorly associated with the series and changing it would seem like saying anime was a better medium, which...well, the game is better anyway, regardless of blood. It's better-paced and you get to know the other characters more, plus there's just so much more content. Put it in perspective: in the anime, the final trial takes place over 44 minutes. In the game, it's over three hours.
I'm confident Future Diary is available in other places! Actually, there's an one-episode OVA which for some reason hasn't been licensed but helps the ending a great deal, so look out for Mirai Nikki Redial if you can.
I've heard of Fafner but not seen it. The Anime News Network review of it is pretty positive, though. I might have to check it out someday.
