Hey so does anyone know what can be done with Livestream? I was under the impression that it could be used to put up a, well, live stream of your computer, and people could go to your channel and watch it and also talk to you via a chatroom function or mic or whatever, but looking at the actual Livestream website seems to imply...paying for things ( Read more... )

If you only want to do that with one person you can do it with Skype. Free.

I was thinking about that, but it'd be easier to coordinate if there was only one video actually playing (as opposed to two DVD players on two computers). Timing, and all that. Still, it does seem to be the better option right now...

No, that's what I mean - Skype allows you to show your screen to the other person. I'm not 100% sure how to do it in the latest version but I've done it by accident before. I can look for the option for you if you like?

It is free, actually-- what you need is Livestream Procaster and then it is a bit complicated, but these tutorials look helpful:

Man, Google and the Livestream FAQ were not helpful at all if this was just on the main site. It does look a bit complicated, though, and since queerlyobscure has just shown me that Skype works for what I want, I'll probably leave Livestream for when I want to do something with multiple people. Thanks, though! :D
