Bed time now yes.

So, some months ago, I was watching this fabulous multifandom vid and thinking heavens, who is that ridiculously attractive boy in the orange jumpsuit, and during Clarion I got a recommendation to watch a particular show I'd been vaguely intending to see for some time, and one thing led to another and now I'm caught up on Misfits.

I've said Tiger ( Read more... )

I've only just caught up on both seasons of Misfits myself and I love it. It is wonderfully honest and I found it quite addictive - I'm eagerly waiting for the new season to start. It is really hard not to love Nathan, isn't it? He and Kelly are my two favourite characters.

I think the thing I love the most is that it seems to be the complete opposite of American superhero shows like Heroes. Instead of deciding that having superpowers means they have to become superheroes and save the world the Misfits are just a bunch of kids who're just trying to get along in this world with their powers just an added complication. Makes the whole thing more true and relatable.

Have you seen these yet? Just brilliant. :D

Initially Kelly was my favorite character by virtue of being the only one who didn't in some way annoy me, but then Nathan crept up on me and Simon and Curtis and Alisha and now I just love all of them, I don't even. I can't help but compare it to Heroes, and even though I had way more emotional investment in Heroes back in the day, I do have to say that Misfits is much more consistent in its quality, perhaps because, like you say, it's not about a Big Epic Story of Saving the World, it's just about a bunch of kids who don't have enough ambition to get proper jobs, much less saving much of anything.

I have not seen those, no! And now I really really want one of those skeleton T-Shirts, except 1) the black one only comes in ladies' sizes and 2) they are fifteen pounds which is a wee bit much for us Americans. D: But I can stare longingly...

I know what you mean about the characters creeping up on you. I didn't think I'd ever get past the creepy factor with Simon - especially with the end of the first series - but now even when I watch the earlier episodes again I just can't help but love all fo them. :)

Whoever was in charge of merchandising really got it right with those clothes. I just love the look of them and that orange hoddie is brilliant.

The skeleton shirts are my favourite too - I hadn't noticed that the black one is only for the ladies, though I don't really mind the grey one either. The price is the main reason that I haven't jumped in a bought a few for myself as yet. That and the fact that I don't think I'd ever be able to walk around town with the words 'Monky Slut' on my top. :P

Misfits is awesome. I caught up on it in December/January-ish. But I hate to be the bearer of bad news... Robert Sheehan is not in Series 3, he's left the show. Hopefully the show will still be awesome, but it definitely won't be the same.

I can't remember the articles I read, but apparently he has gone on to bigger and better things? I'm sure it's all there to find if one looks. :D

The new guy is in the latest cast photos, but I can't even remember what color hair he has. LOL.

I LOOOOOVE Misfits. It's such a crazy mix of humor and EPICNESS and absurdity- the tattoo episode with the peanuts? AMAZING. And while the loss of Nathan is catastrophic, check out this this quote, which might help the grieving process along.

(I use this icon in the spirit of Nathan)

The peanuts scene at first seemed ridiculous, but then I realized that that was the point, that sometimes this show is just going to be ridiculous and you are just going to have to deal with it. And, ahahahah, that quote does indeed help a little bit with the grieving process, even though the grieving process will be long and arduous and whyyyyy. D: D: D:

(Nathan would approve of that icon, I feel. Although it might give him awkward flashbacks.)
