ozfroggirl , I got your card! An especially lovely surprise as I don't recall asking for one, but hey, bonus holiday greetings are fun too. *g*

I read When the Wind Blows today, possibly because I harbor secret masochistic tendencies; between that and Barefoot Gen, I suspect I only have to watch Grave of the Fireflies to complete the trifecta of depressing ( Read more... )

i like actors, 24, holidays, i like comics, the middleman, fandom is love, harry potter, little miss sunshine, grave of the fireflies, sunshine cleaning, i like movies, when the wind blows, barefoot gen

Before When The Wind Blows my only exposure to Raymond Briggs had been The Snowman and his Father Christmas stories. This was certainly... a change of pace. Brilliant, brilliant story, though.

He also did a story about his parents called Ethel & Ernest- I highly recommend it!

...it hadn't actually occurred to me that he might have done other things. Do you know where I could find them? (From what I can tell, When The Wind Blows is only available through internet methods on this side of the pond.)

I'm really sorry, but I'm not sure whow you could get hold of his other stuff short of buying it. The Snowman animated short can be found on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSamurai#p/u/3/sKYTh-FvpWA funny that it should come up now, seeing as it was an integral part of my Christmas when I was small.

I really, really recommend seeking out his Father Christmas series, and Ethel & Ernest which reminded me so much of my own grandparents it made me cry a little bit. I found a page on google: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSamurai#p/u/3/sKYTh-FvpWA

Yay! Surprise card-giving FTW! :D

Glad it arrived on time. Hope you don't mind but I found your address from last year's card-giving when I was writing out my cards and just thought I'd send one your way as well. :)

The actress that was on 24 was the highlight of the movie, for me. She plays awkward characters very well, it seems, and yet it was surprising to see her in that role. She pretty much stole all the scenes she was in.
