Unexpected side effect of mainlining Full Metal Alchemist late at night: unusually vivid half-awake dreams the following morning concerning some uncomfortably hot Roy/Ed with handcuffs and mindgames.
I'm not sure I trust my subconscious even remotely any more.
I never understood the popularity of Roy/Ed. I mean, I get it in theory - rivalry, hatesex, a begrudging respect, it's all good - but I could only ever stomach Roy/Ed when it was really horrible. Which is, uh, odd.
Really horrible as in the quality of the writing is bad or as in you feel slightly guilty for enjoying something so twisted? Because I think I might be able to sympathize with that last one, oh dear.
Well, actually.... >D SOON, SOON you will be aware of the plot revelations that make one of my v. favorite Hughes/Roy dynamics possible, and that one can definitely include handcuffs and mindgames. Either way, though, Hughes/Roy is like... my favorite pairing of all the ages, no joke. <3333
Oh, man, you're going through fast! :D Ffff existential angst. The next episode is one of the most memorable in the series, so STRAP ON YOUR GAME HELMET.
Also, I have a shitton-shitton-of slashy FMA art if you're interested once you finish the show. :X We're talking 800+ pictures in just a subfolder of a subfolder.
It's just, man, a guy who has to be at least in his thirties teasing a 15-year-old kid about if he feels grown-up enough? Plus handcuffs? I feel a deep and unsettling worry that this fantasy's going to be dwelling on me for a loooong time. why does it have to be so unbelievably hot
I always had a thing for Lust and Greed. Wait... are you that far yet?
*smacks forehead* And I forgot to add what I commented for in the first place, which is that bettareader and I initially saw the slash potential in Roy/Ed. Yes. Also, when a friend of mine cosplays, he looks just like Roy Mustang. Hooboy.
I'm one of those Hughes/Roy people too, obviously. Something about Roy/Ed really squicks me, since as a Roy fan I can't see him actually doing anything with Ed or being interested in him in that way, but I am in the minority here. (I think Ed crushing on Roy could totally work, though.) Anyway, yes! Keep watching!
See, I could kind of see it as a power-play kind of thing? Even though that idea's a little squicky in and of itself to most people. I think maybe there's just something embarrassingly kinky about the whole thing. *shrug*
...so, I decided to watch the next episode before finishing this comment, because it's apparently the one where the Hughes/Roy gets really obvious? WHAT THE HELL, MAN, WHAT DO TWENTY-FIFTH EPISODES HAVE AGAINST THEIR CHARACTERS. I THOUGHT THAT ONE WAS GOING TO WAIT UNTIL LATER, TOO. WHAT WHAT WHAT.
It's just weird since I usually have no issue with trying out any pairing, but I don't think the underage thing works for me for some reason. I guess everyone has their squicks, though. A lot of the problem I have with the fandom, too, is that most people don't even address the whole YOU ARE TWICE MY AGE thing, and instead act like it's hunky-dory.
AUUUUUUUGH GOD. HUGHES, WHY. I know, it's so unfair. fdjkla;fda dammit, I can't think about it too hard, auuugh. ;__; But yes, pie and shirt-grabbing and a terrible phone call. FUUUUUUUUCK.
Roy's devotion to Hughes will continue as the series goes on, though. Hnnn.
I suspect significant-age-difference might be one of my kinks, really. (To a certain extent--I'm uncomfortable with stuff involving anyone under 15. Which, of course, Ed barely escapes, but most of the time he could pass for 16 or 17 anyway, in terms of maturity if not height.) And fifteen years of age difference is far from the highest I've read. (Live Free or Die Hard is pretty much the haven for that kink; the two main characters are late-50s and mid-20s, respectively.)
Pie and shirt-grabbing and a terrible phone call and his daughterrrrr ;_; There had better be some hardcore devotion, or I may have to cut a bitch.

Uh, episode 24? Scar just left with the other surviving Ishbalans and Al stopped having existential angst.
