I think, if I was much younger, Coraline would be the kind of movie I really, really wanted to stop watching because I was sure it would give me nightmares but really, really had to keep watching because otherwise I'd never know what happened and that would be worse. Does that make sense? To put it more simply, Coraline is a really good, really ( Read more... )

I first read Coraline when I was 18 and it still freaked me the fuck out. That said, I would totally take my kids to see it. Builds character, no?

I SPOTTED THIS CHARACTER IN THE TRAILERS AND I WAS LIKE, YOU ARE NOT IN MY BOOK >8

But damnit, when is this film coming out over here. I have been waiting for it forever.

He is a cool character! He's all...adorable, and helpful! Also he totally has a crush on Coraline, no lie. I think Henry Selick just wanted to give Coraline someone to talk to in the real world. What with the cat being a mite quiet there and all.

In regards to the film not existing where you are: *sticks out tongue* You may get your TV shows first, but we get our movies first, dammit!

WTF WE ONLY GET BRITISH TV SHOWS FIRST, IT IS NOT LIKE WE DON'T HAVE TO WAIT 390438043 MILLION YEARS FOR ALL THE REST

Do not mock me about this, waiting-for-release-dates is a HUGE sore spot of mine )8

I meant British TV shows, I would be v. unhappy if I had to wait eleven bajillion years to see Doctor Who/Torchwood/SJA/Being Human/Top Gear/etc, etc. *gives sympathy*

Guess who got kidnapped by her knitting/crocheting buds this afternoon & got dragged off to see Coraline! :D

i had not, unfortunately, the opportunity to read the book first as you recommended, 'cause i had no idea that i was actually going to get to see it in the theatre! Thank the gods for knitting buddies ;)

And you were right! i really loved it! i laughed! i eeped! (darn those sewing needles coming straight out of the screen at you! Sewing is even moreso the "S" word for me now! ;D) i cried a wee tear! And found it no more creepy than Nightmare Before Christmas... infact, i liked it more! It was Delightful & filled me with glee and creepy love. heh.

And NOW that picture makes sense to me! Poor Other Wybie ♥

. o O (and the cat was awesome)

*poings about merrily*

Reading the book before seeing the movie is not strictly required! It is excellent that you enjoyed it; the cat was, indeed, awesome. *g*
