The Sarah Jane Adventures 2x03, The Day of the Clown, Part One: I fully admit that just before starting this ep, I thought "woohoo, I finally get to meet Rani! Wait, I mean the--er, wait, no, I don't." THIS WILL GET SO CONFUSING. I do miss Maria, very much, and her dad and even kinda her mom--but, heeey, was that bit there a sly way of saying they' ( Read more... )

I keep saying THE Rani too. This is most confusing. SJA is made of love and win and awesome, yes.

Why is Joss Whedon a tag? Did you just mention him and I can't see it?

The Summerses! Alas poor Joyce; first a single parent, and then a dead one. Truly, it is not easy being a Whedon character.

I am convinced they just named the character "Rani" to mess with the fans. Team Cardiff so would. *has just read Rusty's book about writing, will write extensive review if time allows*

And yes, Luke and Clyde definitely benefit from getting their chance of more spotlight.

Familys: the Chandras would be a first, yes. Though to be fair: the only reasons Donna has a dead father is that the actor died mid-filming Partners in Crime, and RTD didn't want to recast (it was v.v. eerie and sad, as some scenes had to be reshot with Wilf instead), otherwise she'd have had Sylvia and Geoff, as in Runaway Bride, i.e. two parents, married to each other, in the present.

Rusty wrote a book about writing? Awesomesauce! *waits eagerly for your review*

...awww, that's sad...I wonder what Bernard Cribbins must have thought of it? On one hand, bigger role and more lines; on the other hand, yeesh...

Especially since he's way older than Howard (the actor in question) was. Has to bring home mortality. Bernard Cribbins seems to be a real trooper, though, and they all love him. He told Rusty that ever since playing a policeman in Doctor Who and the Daleks more than 40 years ago, he thought that using a paint gun against a Dalek would totally work, and RTD hooted and wrote the scene in, especially for him. And made a sketch before hand. Among other things, this book reveals that Rusty can draw really well and incredibly funny cartoons to boot, the bastard. Back when they didn't know Catherine Tate was willing to do a season, and the fourth season companion would hence have been a "Donna-like" new character named Penny, he made this:

Oh, that is adorable. ♥♥♥ (Does that mean the next companion will be named Penny? Probably not, but hey, one can hope. Because Penny is not a bad name. Or something. dammit Rusty is a better cartoonist than I would have been
