I find extremely large art work pretentious, in general, unless it's outdoors where it has to be large to be seen.

I'm in Santa Fe, second biggest art market after NYC, and the art world here is HUGE and you are so right about the art world.

I have two favorite pieces at the Milwaukee Art Museum. I like them both because I think I understand them better than the curators ( ... )

FYI, I *adore* that painting and have literally plunked myself down in front of those paintings to stare and really take it in. I think it's beautiful. I also think it is much more attractive and intense in person, than what you get from a tiny photograph. Do you think I'm lying?

Maybe you see colors differently than the people who like it. Also, taking a good design class and a drawing class will TOTALLY ruin your brain - you will start to like this stuff! You'll see all of the intentional things the artist did for their effect and you'll feel more involved.
