Is it bad that I didn't want them to win state? I think it was a bit too cliche. And he HAS to stay in Dillon!

Not bad at all! I honestly assumed they would. But as I thought about it, I could see why they did it this way too.

1) If they had lost, it would've sealed the deal - Coach wouldn't just leave, he'd be run out of town for losing.

2) The team already was losing their Coach, and Matt was losing Julie, wouldn't that be incredibly depressing if they lost State, TOO?

3) It still left us with a will he/won't he feeling at the end, without compromising the outcome of the game.

I do tend to wonder, if they come back, how they top this next year. I suppose they could lose next year, Smash's senior year, or something. I'm curious to see what they come up with.
