So.... thinking about a 3rd generation console - some time around or after X-mas.

The negatives of each I can think of:

PS3 - More expensive. Less extensive game selection. Toasty warm.

XB360 - Sounds like an aircraft taking off all the time. HD-DVD losing badly to Blu-Ray. Less powerful than PS3. Butt ugly.

Wii - Other than innovative controller, is a ( Read more... )

Well, you know my thoughts already, but to weigh in on here ...

Agree with you on the Wii. Good for parties and the like, other than that it isn't really next-gen tech.

PS3 is expensive and needs to drop in price. Pretty much will be doing that in the run-up to Christmas though, also expect a larger HDD model coming soon. Which reminds me, you can stick any SATA hard drive in the PS3 so if you ever need a bigger one you can just go and buy it. More quirky games than you'll get on PC and it does have the best driving game. :)

XBOX 360. Loud and unreliable. Also, you have a PC so play FPSs on there.

err - that's about it really.

Richard has a wii and I'm thoroughly unimpressed with it. Mario Party might change my mind, but neh, he doesn't even play on it that much, which for a man who has EVERY nintento console set up in his house is strange. He plays more on his SNES and Megadrive.

Apparently the 360 has Settlers of Catan on Live Arcade. I'm tempted to buy one just for that.

well as much as im a playstationer brand wise, id say the 360 wins. most software companys have pulled thier exclusive licences from the ps3 and are realeasing them on ps3 360 and pc in an attempt to make thier money back.

the two franchises that were makeing me want a ps3 (devil may cry and silent hill) are now 360 bound as well so it may be time to defect.
