Well, been a funny few weeks. Mostly ups, and a bit of a down.

First, the down:

Drew Hayes says goodnight to the sandman.

Yep, Poison Elves creator/writer/artist/sociopath Drew Hayes died of a heart attack last week. He was 37. I was a fan - to the point of having a PE tattoo, every comic book he ever published, the Luse statue and multiple art ( Read more... )

cranfleet lock? lordy...

does cranfleet canal still stink?

i used to go canoeing down round there... spent a whole day once teaching kids at the lock how to launch off the side into the water. never did capsizing there though because of the stink.. always did that stuff in the trent where the water is fresher :)

Not that I noticed, I have to say. The lock is shut for repairs until tomorrow, after which we can move it to its permanent mooring at Beeston. I'll be sure to sniff the canal before leaving it to check.
