Interesting. God, it feels like a while since those film theory wheels have been a'turning in my head. Fulfulde music videos just arn't such fertile ground for thought

Thats an accurate assessment, I think. However, it really only accounts for the "connection" from the male perspective. What about women anime geeks? I have seen a fair amount of them the 2 times I went to FanimeCon; CosPlaying and otherwise.

We could shorthand that initial interpretation of the "connection" as straightforward fantasy-fulfillment; where the loser gets the girl, and the bullies get a taste of their own medicine. "Fanservice", for the most part, inscribes a space for the repressed male ego to exercise itself to melodramatic proportions (double-D proportions, to be precise...). Fuck, it should be called "Freudservice." Self-serving to the point of crystal transparency
