I wouldn't leave the scar open with raw fabric edges around it on top of the resin mask. I would probably use a yellow (or pink, since that's sort of a scarred flesh color) felt or fleece and sew it in.

Hmm, that makes sense.
I'll try it out, thanks. :)

you could - if you really wanted it to be open - hem the edges of the pieces when they are off the mask so that when all sewed up together and the 'skin' put on there would be a gap. though hemming fur may be awkward.

for fur, i like DF but it takes more time to shave due to its density, and for realism youll have to keep brushing it out or its prone to forming spikes, but lots of colors :3

either way im sure it will look awesome, especially if you painted the fleece/resin to look more skin/scar like :3 id love to see the result no matter what though :3

I got an idea yesterday for his scar.
Would it be possible to have the fur cut, and then shave it extremely close around the edges of where I want the scar, and then cover the edges with Apoxie Sculpt, then smooth it to match the resin mask.

I'm terrible at explaining, but I'm going to try out my idea with some fur and paperclay I have lying around my room, and I'll upload the pictures once I'm done.

I've been using thefabricexchange.com or fabric.com lately for fur.

If I can get it at fabric.com I buy it there. If not anywhere that is cheapest. Right now that's the fabric exchange. Black friday will have good prices so keep an eye out for fursuit materials at your fabric shops and online. Order swatches!

Awesome! Thanks!

Do you have any suits that show off the silver or yellow?

Here is the thing about silver. It is notoriously inconsistent. What my gray may look like may not be what you end up getting. Different online retailers get different batches. In my own collection I have 3 different shades of gray that is supposedly all gray shag. The only way to absolutely know the gray you are getting is to order a swatch and try to order from the same batch number.

I believe right now that is true for a majority of furs of that style right now. So order swatches and order them from the place you plan on buying the furs and buy them within a few days or a week. I made this head with fabric.com gray like 5 or 6 months ago.
