Grommet/Eyelet recommendation?

I have a Dritz hand-pliers to install my grommets, but as I'm starting to use more grommets on my projects, I'm constantly depleting the stock at all my local Joann's and they can't stock them fast enough. I'd like to start ordering them wholesale, but I have no idea where to start. A quick trip to Amazon shows me that Dritz is one of the more ( Read more... )

I've looked into this before but for the life of me I can't remember the companies. What I DO remember is that once you get to a certain level they are expecting you to be using a table mount press for grommets. That might help you narrow down your search and it might be you can still use a hand-press for them.

Check corsetry supply places - I'm pretty sure that's where I came across them.

*Ebay woman* :D I never bought these before but I always buy everything in bulk through ebay, washers, tools, all kinds of stuff! Just narrow the search down to metal or anything in particular you may need of course.

Note: I saw some kits on ebay with the pliers.

Have you given Wawak a try? They're a decent site for general sewing supplies and they have some things that are harder to find (like a blue two-way reversible sport zipper of a VERY difficult-to-find length for my husband's coat...) it looks like they have some grommets in some sizes that come in packs of 144.

Some where in my gazillion bookmarks I have some links...send me an email to remind me to look them up as it will take some time. There is also a table top grommet setter that I lust for but it is not cheap. It clamps onto the table and has different attachments for different sizes. Has a large pull lever rather than a pliers or a setter and is a breeze to use. I may have a bookmark for that too. If you are doing large grommets and put the shaping cup under it changes the look of the grommet as well as it is designed to really press them in.

When I was looking I used the size and the word grommet in the search engine. For the setter I can not remember but I think it was grommet setter machine or table top grommet setter or something like that. Ebay and amazon are good places to search too.

If you're doing it for a business, you need better grommets than Dritz and a better setting tool. The good ones are table-mounted and will cost you $80 - $140. (The REALLY good one is a floor setter, but unless you are making corsets every day, you don't need that. My local corset supply store has one for customer use and I adore it.)
