I'll admit that Strikethrough 2007 was emotionally draining for me, because it brought back some extremely unpleasant memories from a similar event in the Matrix fandom. One day, I was reading some amazing insights and discussing the film and our community with other fen; the next day, all those discussions were gone and I was resigning in protest ( Read more... )

Same here. Though it wasn't a "big bad corporation" that took it away, it was still highly emotional and I felt a big loss. Like you said, "Because it wasn't just WB's space, it was our space, those were our thoughts, our creative efforts, our friendships and our community." Though I understand the reason the mods made the decision to delete the community, it wasn't only the mods community to begin with. And I don't understand why more effort hasn't been given to allow the writers to retrieve their work.

Opps. Hit reply too soon.

So like you, at first when I saw that the work was given back, I felt relief because it was something that I had been waiting for from another situation. I was totally transferring.

I'm still frightened and I have no intention of letting my guard down.

Ugh. I'm still not sure what to make of the Stewardess post. While there's no solid evidence of anything, and the post itself is a rant as opposed to objective journalism...that's a fairly damning rant, and the pieces fit together a little *too* well for it to be nothing more than a disgruntled fan blowing off steam and tossing out random conspiracy theories. In and of itself, it's not proof of anything, but it's a nice little heap of circumstantial evidence, and rant though it may be, it's a rant that's at least earned an official response, IMHO anyways. I will be highly suspicious if 6A continues to ignore it when people are lining up at the News post and asking them to at least confirm or deny.

I'm not sure how "safe" fandom is at LJ, in the sense that I am not sure if we'll have mass deletion in the future or what. But I also don't know that I'd fight for it - I mean, I might, because I really like faffing about on LJ. At the same time, I come online to have fun and the idea of fighting is kind of not inspiring. Even though I admit I'd mourn (at least a little) the amount of money I've put into LJ over the years.

"Obviously," agreed Draco. "I'm so hungry I could eat a Hippogriff." He eyed the impressive stack of toast in front of him and wondered if he ought to ask his mother for advice on whom to take to the wedding.

Flo couldn’t help but smile to herself as she started chapter 28 of her latest story, Before Peace. “That poor sop,” she uttered aloud, chuckling slightly to herself. Although she didn’t tell her friends, in-denial!Draco was her secret crack. There was something undeniably entertaining about making such a clueless character even more clueless with the suprize zomg gayz ( ... )

Not able to nod, Flo simply waited until whatever the hell had happened to her stopped. When she was finally able to move again, she whipped around to face the boy, who was once again occupying her seat. She narrowed her eyes and sat back down. “Get me a non-fat latte with two shots and one raw sugar ( ... )
