That's what I don't get about the anime, why they need to change stuffs that they don't have to change. I'm fine with having mod-souls living in Urahara shouten, even with Ishida having his powers temporarily (because otherwise, what would he do in the fillers?), but unnecessary things like this make a spot in my brain thinks "they don't like her".

Wow, yeah, that really IS off! Even if Orihime does feel sort of angsty, she'd never show it outwardly. BAH. XP

And Orihime is only angsty after SS arc. Pre-Bleach Orihime is all happy and sunshine and chocolate-covered brussels sprout.

I didn't notice that, and at the point of chapter 0 side-A, Inoue would not have that expression. Who knows, maybe they think if they've got to work the 00 chaps in the main story line, they'd have to make thing more "in tone" with the following arcs.

Which was why it irritated me. And I really can't see how doing that makes things more in tune with the Masks arc.

Who knows. Considers how Renji was portrayed in the filler arc, I say that us common folks do not understand what makes sense to the genius original animators XD

PS: by "at the point of chapter 0 side-A, Inoue would not have that expression", I was just agreeing with you that it isn't right.

Not just Renji but I noticed in the fillers, I couldn't stand that version of Rukia. Just the way they portrayed her wasn't the real Rukia we've seen in the original eps and in the manga. If they would've kept Rukia like that, I think then and there would've had me disliking her for good.

I kind of wished that the animation team hadn't made that change. On the one hand, as a Tatsuki fan, I liked that she actually had some lines. On the other hand, Orihime is going to have plenty time to be angsty in the new arc so why rush it.

But I don't know. I can give a pass to the anime since I expect it to do weird things and since the manga itself has been so inconsistent.

I watch the anime for the seiyuu, so I know I'll still be watching it. Especially with Suwabe Junichi as Grimmjow. Hmmmm.
But man, I love Orihime. ;_; THE REAL ONE. So it's also paaaaainful. (Thank God they get Renji mostly right.)

I'm looking forward to see chapter 239 animated. Noda Junko's good in that kind of scenes (like for One Piece's Tashigi).

Ah, I was watching that episode in the hopes of seeing THAT part. They got my hopes up in seeing that chapter 0-B was beautifully done, only to have my dreams crash with Orihime's uncharacteristic flinch. Perhaps they were trying to be 'consistent' with their initial portrayal of Orihime being 'afraid' of Ichigo (which wasn't right in the first place), but I also think they lost an opportunity to give a hint of her crush. It would've been quite an easy insert of that deleted aspect had they at least have her blush but... Oh well, I dread things for the future too.
