About 7.3 Richter scale at the epicentrum, followed 5 minutes later with an aftershock of 5.1 scale. Possible tsunami warning was given right after the first quake, but lifted after nothing happened after an hour ( Read more... )

For some reason when I saw "Java Earthquake" I thought "Java's having issues? My player never hiccuped or anything yesterday..."

a Singaporean senior of mine now lives in Jakarta, and when the tremors happen, she climbed down 32 flight of stairs with her baby girl in tow.
What. Why that of all things.

It sounded cool when first read, but when talking with my dad during our ride home, I just realised how pointless it is. If the earthquake is small, the building will be alright, so there's no need to evacuate. If it's violent, you'll be dead before you reached the ground anyway because the whole building collapsed. So... yeah.
