I am soooo amused by your misfortune. But only because I have done pretty much exactly the same thing.

honestly, I'm most bewildered by the bizarre and total death of two separate gps units in such a short period of time. I do not understand. Were you driving with it plugged into a car charger? Because that's what I usually do.

In the GPS home dimension, parents scare children with stories about "She Who Kills Electronics". It is a cautionary tale about innocence lost and battery life cut tragically short.

They also refer to her, in fading beeps, as "Izzy".
