If I were physically able to do web design for a living and were able to find clients, i.e., if I could work 40 hours a week, I would be making at least $80k a year, with 2 weeks unpaid vacation time. Ah, well. I'll be more than happy if I can consistently make $400 a month.

On average, you should assume that you'd have to work at least 10-20 hours of unpaid work (new biz, billing, etc) for every 40 hours of paid work. And I may be being rather conservative about that estimate.
