Happy Yule!

This year's season was very good to us.  Thanks to the very nicely sized annual bonus, I was able to finally commit to finishing the kitchen remodeling, and DH agreed he'd like that too.  So, I picked out a new fridge (french doors, hee) , and a new dishwasher (the old one was coming apart more with every use), and I ordered the materials for the Read more... )

You two are so cute in these pics. I have always thought it was a hallmark of a lasting relationship to still be cute together years down the line:)

That's a lovely picture! You two look so sweet. &hearts

I'm in envy of your new fridge - an interior water dispense! I didn't know those were possible.

I have a question about waffles. When you make a batch, how do you keep them warm and somewhat crisp and fluffy after they come off the griddle, before you serve them? I've tried keeping them in the oven at 200C, but they always seem to get moist. Do you have a secret?

re: fridge - I didn't actually get the interior water dispenser. I didn't know such a thing was available until after I'd ordered mine. But we do have a working ice maker now.

re: waffles - no secret, unfortunately. Either we serve them straight off the griddle, one by one, or they are limper and moister from having been piled up in the oven. This last time we tried to make them even crispier before they went in the oven, but it didn't help much. They do crisp back up the next day when they've been laid out in a single layer and re-toasted in the oven though.
