That has helped me in the past. That firm but gentle touch letting me know that I'm not alone, but keeping quiet so i can "be alone".

Same here. I wear a cuff around my wrist to keep me grounded/steady. It definitely helps - there's a stress relief pressure point on the wrist as I found out ;)
