It was in a motel room that he had broken down. He had been drying his hands when looked up into the mirror. The towel had dropped from his hands and he gripped the edge as he looked at his reflection, as he looked at his brother’s face.
He and Aiden didn’t look one hundred percent alike, but he still felt his heart ache as he looked at his own face in the mirror. He could see Aiden, see his missing half. He closed his eyes as tears stung at his eyes. The edges of the sink cracked under his grip as it tightened, his heart breaking all over again.
He and Aiden had been together since birth, they had seen each other at their worst. They had always been there for one another and now Ethan was being forced to walk this world alone. Live out the rest of his life broken. They had worked so hard to keep each other safe, even joining the alpha pack to keep them alive, keep them breathing for just one more day.
Ethan had always thought that he and Aiden would go together. They were twins, they came into the world together and they would go out together. But it seemed fate had other plans, leaving Ethan alone.
The tears fell down his face and he turned away from the mirror, unable to look at his reflection for a second longer.
He had run away from Beacon Hills, run away from the only other person to ever show him concern, and now he was running away from his own reflection.
