Positive Thinking

This may seem like something that is a no-brain-er to many of us but it is actually MUCH harder than it seems. I find that not only are there the larger more obvious negative thought but that there are also a lot of tiny little molecule-sized negative thoughts that seep into your subconscious when you are not even actively thinking. Looking at things from an outside sort of perspective is an awesome way to rationalize things. It's helped me a lot in dealing with my own problems, because I have been able to 1. decide how much the problem actually meant to me and 2. see the issue from the other person's perspective. That makes it easy to relate the issue to another person, in that case ( ... )

I think it's really important to break down the negative thoughts, b/c usually they're just symptoms of a bigger underlying problem. Ignoring a negative thought never works for me! You have to acknowledge it and work through it. I find that talking or writing about the negative feelings and the possible causes really helps me to sort out my head, and come up with a real problem that has a solution. Even if it's a HUGE problem that will take a lot of work, at least it's something I can work toward fixing instead of just a band-aid!
