CHAPTER 3:
When he saw Chinen walking by himself after school, Daiki kept him company. He placed his arms around his shoulder and tried to talk about yesterday’s incident again, “Chinen, you have to explain everything to Ryutarou. I’m happy that me and Takaki are together, but I can’t stand that you two have to break up because of some misunderstanding.”
“But you said don’t tell it to anyone.”
Daiki laughed, “You’re such a nice friend. You really shouldn’t tell it to anyone, he’s your boyfriend. Now that I got my wish, you can tell him.”
“He might not believe me. Yesterday he stood up to what he thought,” Chinen answered, full of hopelessness.
“Then I’ll tell him.”
“No!” Chinen shouted, “let Ryuu-chan realize it to himself. I know he can’t live without seeing, talking, or kissing me,” he laughed.
“So you’re sure that you two will come back again?”
The little guy just gave out a cute smile.
------------------------------
After two days of not seeing him, Ryutarou’s dying to look at those sparkling eyes again. While walking through the third year classrooms, he began to regret everything that he said on that night. He still loves Chinen, and he wanted him back.
He looked at Chinen sitting on his seat, reading a pocketbook. As he looked longer, Chinen moved and looked at him too. They continue to stare at each other’s eyes, but Ryutarou can’t feel anything. It’s blank, just like that.
The bell for homeroom rang, and Ryutarou ran back to his classroom. Will he forgive me for my recklessness? He asked himself as he explained to his teacher why is he late.
That night as he lied down on his bed, he never noticed tears went out again after he saw Chinen in school. He misses him, and that’s a fact. He wonders if they’ll ever be together again while wiping away his wet cheeks. As he closes his teary eyes, he jerked his hand; even in his dream, he can still feel the warmth of his hands.
-----------------------
Ryutarou’s day went even worse when he learned Chinen didn’t come to the rehearsals. He isolated himself from everyone, which make Daiki worry about him. The BEST member carried him and placed him on his lap, like what he does to Chinen then.
He heard Daiki ask, “I heard you and Chinen broke up.”
“And it’s all your fault,” he continued, getting away from Daiki’s lap.
Daiki held his wrist before he goes out of the room, “I have to tell you something.”
Ryutarou stayed, and was surprised to see Takaki enter and held Daiki’s hand. “Eh?! What is this?!” he demanded, wondering on why Daiki is passionately looking at Takaki’s eyes.
The older boys laughed, “The reason why Chinen always hang out with me is not because he’s having an affair, but he’s helping me with my feelings on Takaki,” Daiki explained, hoping that the young boy will believe him, “Maybe when the times you see him hugging me is because he’s happy for me.”
Takaki added, “I’m really sorry that you thought differently. You have to fix your relationship with Chii. I bet he misses you already.”
“Then…everything was a…mis…take…” Ryutarou slowly said, so that his head will input all the things that he thought, all the misconceptions, all the infidelity he thought. He’s thinking about Chinen’s sad expression right now, missing him. “I MUST SAY SORRY!!” he shouted as he ran away.
Daiki stopped him, “What will we say to the manager that you can’t come?”
“Just tell him I got Chii’s flu too,” he said, also making an excuse for his boyfriend.
As he ran to Chinen’s house, he cried again. This time, it’s tears of joy. Chinen is not cheating on him, and that means he still loves him! He looked at his hand where he felt the warmth of his hands last night while dreaming. He smiled, hopeful now that he will accept him again, as long as he explains his stupidity.
That hand where he felt the warmth is also the hand where he almost slit open his wrist. He remembered how Chinen held that hand and told him that everything’s fine after crying his heart out.
He felt Chinen’s arm arms enveloping him and he heard, “It’s okay. Just remember, I became your boyfriend is that because I love you. You’re the only one for me. To be honest, I was really scared to see you crying and your hand bleeding like that. If you die from blood loss, do you think I’m okay with that?” he held Ryutarou tighter and kissed his forehead, “Promise me you won’t scare me like that ever again,”
“I love you, my superman,” he whispered as he ran faster.
