Think of what could be if you rewrite the role you play

So with the quotation from my least favourite song on Adam Lambert's album, an album I genuinely love (a little to my surprise to be honest), I will not regale you with a tale of why my weekend has been epically shit (although today has been wonderful and I might be a little sunblushed). Instead I will just inform you that it has been one big ( Read more... )

I am very much with you there. I try and I try but I do sometimes fail quite badly!

He tends to live life a bit unfiltered.

He does but as someone who spent three years editing short films I am well aware just how easy it is to completely change the 'story' of something through editing and I was really worried that Idol would filter anything he said so all we'd hear would be "great voice" and "pretty song". I am so glad that they didn't :D

He was a great mentor and definitely one of the best I've seen on Idol (although I've not been watching for long).

Going from a season of polished performers to a season of completely raw kids is a little jarring. Oh last season they all had experience except for perhaps Megan and Lil. Kris had performed for years at bars, Allison had won other competitions and been on television, Anoop had been on stuff then with Matt, Adam, Scott (and in his own way Danny) who were erning their living performing the ( ... )

I hear you on the editing part. My husband used to do more of that in college. It's really amazing how much something can change by just chopping a line or three. (Then again, isn't that what politics is all about?)

In fact, I remember reading about a movie... can't remember which one for the life of me, but when they first did the screening for it, everyone hated it. It was boring. All of the screenings had horrid reviews. So the director looked at it again trying to figure out what to change. He ended up putting a little sequence before the opening title and somehow killed twenty minutes of footage after that. Test audiences after that absolutely loved it. I want to say it had something to do with Tibet, but I really can't remember. :P

I really, really enjoyed Adam mentoring. I honestly wasn't worried about him doing it at all - he's always been so eloquent and so smart that I figured he'd be able to find out what this group needed to hear to improve a bit. It was fun to watch, and he was honest with them. And I enjoyed his performance as well - the only thing I, personally, didn't like was how long it took for it to pick up; I had a moment where I was like, "...is this going to be the pace of the whole song?" Ha! Well done, Adam.

Typo in the last one and I still have no idea how to edit these so let's try that again. I meant to write 'yes' and I wrote 'no' - to be fair I was only one out :D

I was so relieved when he was so honest while managing to stay polite. It really felt like he was honest to help them and for no other reason, he wanted them to succeed.

I had a moment where I was like, "...is this going to be the pace of the whole song?"

Ah yes, I can see how that could have happened. I had kinda guessed where it was going because he does like to put on a show and the entire song at that speed might have been just a little too odd for him to attempt on the Idol stage. For the most part Adam knows his audiences and he really judged this one well :D
